Maryland Public Television (MPT) invites you and your family to visit the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway on Friday, August 4, 2023.
With this event, we aim to bring together individuals across generations and spark important conversations about Harriet Tubman, one of Maryland's most iconic figures.
MPT is offering this unique experience as part of our community engagement plan tied to Iconic America, created by David Rubenstein.

This event is FREE but advance registration is required.
Space for this event is very limited, therefore a $10 refundable deposit is required to hold your space.
This trip is limited to 50 people.
August 4, 2023 | 7:30am - 5:30pm
Transportation via deluxe motorcoach, tour guide, lunch, and gratuities are included.
TOUR DETAILS
Attendees will explore:
- Dorchester County Visitor Center - award-winning Visitor Center at Sailwinds Park (also pick up location #2)
- Dorchester County Court House & Long Wharf Park - the port of entry of the African American slaves.
- Stanley Institute - in the 1800s this one-room school was built and ran independently by the local black community determined to educate their children in a segregated school system.
- Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park and Visitor Center, Golden Hill - includes exhibits and theatre that tell the story of Harriet Tubman.
- Brodess Farm / Bucktown General Store - home of Harriet Tubman's enslaver.
- Harriet Tubman Museum and Educational Center / Take My Hand Mural - one of the oldest community organization dedicated to the memory of Harriet Tubman.
