Manor Mill is a newly restored, pre-revolutionary grist mill that now houses a fine arts gallery, musical performances, ceramics, yoga and meditation, workshops across all disciplines, and organizational retreats. Manor Mill is a community built upon creativity and learning, rooted in history, and situated in the most beautiful area of rural Baltimore County in Monkton, MD. 


Event Details:

This community event is part of MPT's NEA Big Read initiative featuring Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude by Ross Gay. The NEA Big Read initiative encourages creativity and connection through the shared experience of reading. At Yoga + Meditation at the Mill, attendees will participate in a variety of activities meant to inspire meaningful conversations around the themes of gratitude and nature.

Enjoy 30-minute sessions of beginner's yoga, a poetry workshop, and a nature meditation by the river. Upon arrival, you will be assigned a group, and you will rotate through each activity with this same group. Group A will start with yoga, Group B with poetry, and Group C with nature meditation. Everyone will participate in every activity!

This event is FREE but advance registration is required and a $3 refundable deposit is required to hold your space. Sessions are limited to 50 attendees each.

9-11 AM

Attendees will rotate between:
- Qigong with Sarah Karp
- Poetry Workshop with Bob Bowie
- Nature Meditation with Stephanie Snyder


12-2 PM

Attendees will rotate between:
- Beginners Yoga with Marcie Maher
- Poetry Workshop with Bob Bowie
- Nature Meditation with Stephanie Snyder




Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Are the activities beginner-friendly? Yes! People of all skill levels will enjoy the beginner's yoga and the poetry workshop. The meditation in nature is accessible to everyone. 
  • How accessible is Manor Mill? Please be aware that there are some stairs to climb upon entering Manor Mill. If you are in a wheelchair, there is access to a back entrance up the gravel driveway. Should you need assistance with this, contact the MPT events team in advance.
  • Is this event suitable for all ages? Anyone over the age of 16 is welcome to attend!
  • What do I need to bring? Please dress comfortably. We will provide mats for yoga and journals for the poetry workshop. There will be water and snacks available.
